Taking the First Step towards Household Toilets - CURE India - USAID - Impact Films

Centre for Urban and Regional Excellence (CURE) is a not-for-profit development organization working with urban informal and low-income communities to un-think, reimagine, innovate and de-engineer solutions to include and integrate people in the processes of city development. Safeda Basti in Geeta Colony, Delhi, lacked household toilets and civic services. CURE introduced a simplified sewer system, enabling over 60 households to install personal toilets. The community co-financed the project, with active involvement from women. Supported by USAID, the initiative improved health and living conditions, making Safeda Basti a model for sustainable urban development. This film shows the story behind it all and the series showcases their work in other such locations in the capital. Production House: Big Monkey Studios
